I'm Mike, I play rugby and I write match reports for giggles and to sometimes go in the paper. Most of them are written as first drafts so apologies if there's typos but I can't be arsed to go back and fix them all...yet. I'm also a Chiropractor and I write occasional articles on health as well as the occasional other fart-arsing. It's very amateur so don't go taking it too seriously!

BUCS: AECC RFC v Glamorgan 3s (Mar 2010)

AECC RFC 88
Glamorgan University 3rd XV 0

Though the score will impress, the truth of the College's last home game of it's maiden season in the University league is that it was a shame more resistance was not offered. After providing one of the sternest tests of the season in Treforest, Glamorgan brought a mere 12 players (plus an inspired player-coach) to Chapel Gate.

Although the Chiros did their best to beat themselves in the opening exchanges, it was not long before the Glamorgan defence was broached by AECC's very own player-coach Joseph-Athow Frost. The Chiros would go on to score 12 tries including a fittingly quick-fire hat-trick from outgoing noted gingivitis sufferer Tom Waller, and braces for Mike Richards, Callum Ryan and Piet Le Roux. The other scores were notched by Alex "Uni" Horne, Rhys Edwards, Brendan Bignell and Ryan Singer, with Matt Bateman slotting nine conversions. The match was also notable for the debut appearance of the AECC's hirsute suitor, that fine PhD student, Angelo Battiston, whose sole contribution of a rumbling run cut tragically short was enough to inflame the AECC faithful watching from the sidelines.

Credit to Glamorgan not only for travelling down in such difficult circumstances, but also for keeping in such good humour and refusing to have the game cut short. Accordingly, man of the match was, for the first time, given to an opposing player, the Glamorgan player-coach who bravely stepped in a fly-half, whilst Dick of the Day went to Tom Waller, which rarely needs explanation.

The focus now switches swiftly to next week, and Marjons College, Plymouth, where surely only a player shortage stands between AECC and an unbeaten debut league season.

AECC: Stroon, Wally, Rhys, Tom Pooley, Alex Horne, Beau, Brendan, Mick, Bates, Frost, Ryan Allen, Crawford, Singer, Clive, Dom, Doov, Angelo, Pegna, Big Le Roux, Kristian Friis.

AECC RFC: Not bad for a team of misfits
